Jody B. Marten

Attorney Jody B. Marten realizes that your legal problem is not just a case; it affects your life. She brings years of experience to work on your behalf.

After working in the Senate and the House of Representatives, Ms. Marten worked as an adjudicator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She became a hearings officer, and later a judge at the EEOC. 

After leaving the EEOC, Jody B. Marten worked in both the fields of employment law and immigration law. Ms. Marten served as an asylum adjudicator at the Department of Justice adjudicating cases. She worked on policies to be used by immigration judges and developed seminars for the Department of Justice.  Ms. Marten also worked with immigration judges and at the United States Catholic Conference Migration and Refugee Services. She now works in private practice. She has represented clients before the Immigration Court and at the Board of Immigration Appeal. 

Jody B. Marten has been involved, on behalf of the D.C. Bar in sponsoring, through the Women’s Bar, naturalization ceremonies in Federal District Court. She served as Chair of the Arts, Entertainment and Sports Law Committee for the D.C. Bar. She also served as a guest lecturer at local law schools, including Georgetown and the University of the District of Columbia.
